Loch Arbour Parking Ordinance WITHDRAWN

Our collective voices were heard! During a special meeting conducted by The Board of Commissioners of the Village of Loch Arbour, permit parking ordinance #2020-464 was officially withdrawn.

The Village of Loch Arbour proposed a system of permit parking on the beach block for the two streets that lead to the beach, Euclid Avenue and Elberon Avenue, the only two beach access points in town. Considering Edgemont Drive is already metered and limited to one side, restricting these two streets would essentially restrict 100% of beach front parking from Ocean Avenue & East. The ordinance, as introduced, did not mention the current pandemic so it appears that these changes would be permanent.

Ordinance 2020-464 was introduced and had its first hearing on May 6, 2020 during a Zoom meeting of the Loch Arbour Mayor and Council. Its second reading and public hearing was scheduled for June 3rd. Thanks to an outcry of support opposing the planned permit parking, ordinance 2020-464 was withdrawn from consideration from the June 3rd council meeting. Thank you to all those who communicated with the Village and commented on or shared our posts!
