Jersey Shore Ocean Friendly Restaurants to the Rescue!

During this unprecedented and frantic time, every little bit counts. A few Monmouth and Ocean County, Ocean Friendly Restaurants have both pioneered and joined initiatives to help feed those in need during these difficult times.

OCEAN COUNTY: The Old Causeway Steak & Oyster House of Manahawkin has created a program to allow folks to donate a meal to a hero. You can buy a $20 meal for a first responder, healthcare worker or a family who needs a little boost. This past week, they were able to donate 75 meals to the Southern Ocean Medical Center so that hospital workers get good food and don’t have to stop working. For every donated meal, The Tide Table Group will donate an additional meal. The Tide Table Restaurant Group is comprised of Ship Bottom Shellfish, Mud City Crab House, The Black Whale Bar & Fish House, Old Causeway Steak & Oyster House as well as Parkers Garage and Oyster Saloon.

The generosity doesn't stop there. Through The Old Causeway, you can also donate $20 to the Southern Regional High School Food Bank. They will then order hams and fresh produce through purveyors that will get delivered to 53 needy families in our area. Although The Old Causeway has closed it's doors until April 12th, donated meals will still continue to go out through Mud City Crab House. For more information and to stay up-to-date on these initiatives, head over to The Old Causeway's Facebook page!

MONMOUTH COUNTY: Marilyn Schlossbach, owner of OFR's Langosta Lounge, Pop's Garage, and Catering by Marilyn, has her hands full.  She is currently supplying over 400 fully cooked, meals a week for Asbury Park Dinner Table, which purchases meals from local restaurants to be served to members of the community in need. Marilyn is also supplying over 450 meals a week for Fulfill NJ whose mission is to alleviate hunger and build food security in Monmouth & Ocean Counties and to make sure that all people at all times have access to enough nutritious food to maintain an active and healthy life. Combined, that's close to a thousand meals a week! And with the help of her customers, Marilyn was able to purchase 1,500 masks to distribute to the community and local hospital workers. She will soon be launching a fundraiser to support Asbury Park Dinner Table, Fulfill NJ, and purchasing more masks. Be sure to check out the Facebook page for up-to-date information and new initiatives.

Langosta Lounge, located at 1000 Ocean Avenue Asbury Park, New Jersey 07712 will be donating 600 Easter meals Saturday and Sunday. They are looking for donations of cooked or fresh hams and Easter candy. Donations can be dropped off to Langosta Lounge, Monday thru Friday, 9am - 12pm

Restaurants around the country are teaming up to provide food for those in need. We are proud and supportive of these generous efforts from our local Ocean Friendly Restaurants. Please be sure to check in on all that they're doing and when this is all over, stop in for a meal!
