The Sasaki/Rutgers/Arup team of Rebuild by Design has developed a plan that directly addresses environmental issues that correlate to damage wrought by Superstorm Sandy. The plan proposes fortifying our beaches with natural dunes and vegetation, increasing the capacity of streets and coastal lakes to handle storm water runoff, and increasing the ecological vitality of those coastal lakes.
