Thanks to those who came out last night in Loch Arbour to raise concerns for fishing, / surfing, and swimming safety as the town gears up for beach replenishment. Unfortunately, Loch Arbour voted 3-0 to allow an easement to the DEP to proceed with the beachfill. We found out that Deal already did so (maybe last week) and they said Allenhurst has a meeting about it on Wednesday. But we called Allenhurst and there is no such meeting tomorrow.
There is a work session in Allenhurst town hall on Monday, April 22, at 7:30. No action will be taken. The public is allowed to be present at work sessions but the public is generally not allowed to speak at work sessions. I think it is worthwhile attending anyway. I can not be there.
There is a blog post here http://theaverageangler.blogspot.com/ and the Asbury Park Sun was present so see their site later http://asburyparksun.com/ and the Coaster newspaper was there as well. Not all their news goes online http://thecoaster.net/wordpress/ so pick up a real copy.
Loch Arbour asked for the list of questions I posed to them. They are really questions for the town to ask the DEP / Army Corps so they don’t get a damaging, dangerous, crappy beachfill on their beach.
Loch Arbour also assured us that they still need to make another decision to finalize this and that there would be a meaningful public hearing. Please look for public notices in the paper for any public notices from Deal, Allenhurst, and Loch Arbour about meetings involving beach replenishment. These notices are not published online.
Surfers who came out, you know who you are. Thanks, and thanks for speaking.
