Jersey Shore Surfrider Dune Grass Planting In Bradley Beach
“At the Edge” is a 25 minute film by a Dutch graduate student which probes into our practices and attitudes in the post-Sandy world in NJ. This free event will be at the Monmouth Beach Cultural Center, 7PM on Thursday, April 28th.
The Jersey Shore Surfrider Chapter teamed up with the town of Bradley Beach and the American Littoral Society to help plant dune grass along the new permanent dunes that run the length of the beach in the Monmouth County shore town on Saturday, March 28th. There was a great turnout of volunteers who braved the chilly weather to help dig holes and plant the dune grass that will help keep the sand dunes strong for when they are called on to protect Bradley Beach. Here are a few pictures from the event:
Come join the Surfrider Foundation: Jersey Shore Chapter for a round of dune grass plantings. Sea Girt, November 8th, Spring Lake November 9th and Asbury Park November 15th, as part of our Rethink the Jersey Shore campaign- promoting better, more sustainable ways towards resiliency.
You may have heard about the new NJ DEP proposal regarding coastal building rules. They would allow more building along the coast, in wetland areas, along bays, harbors and rivers. These rules are too weak to begin with and this would make them weaker. Write your legislators to stop this nonsense.
