The Jersey Shore Chapter is leading a variety of groups including environmental, fishing, and diving groups against the privatization of public beaches in the Elberon section of Long Branch. Local homeowners have placed private property signs, tents, and potted plants giving the impression that the beach is private and not public.

The Chapter has sent a letter referencing case law that says replenished beaches are public beaches. The adjacent property owner may have some right to the upland dry sand area, but we are confident they do not have ownership of the entire beach.

A letter was sent to the Long Branch Mayor signed by half a dozen groups concerned with access. That letter is here.
