After months of back and forth discussion and outrage over a desolate and destroyed North End boardwalk, the city of Asbury Park and developer iStar have reached an agreement to move forward with the reconstruction of the boardwalk. “Despite not being legally obligated to fund the $8 million project, iStar agreed to pay for the boardwalk construction through the infrastructure financing program, which includes an additional $2 million associated with the City’s approved redesign.”
While the boardwalk is being reconstructed, iStar still plans to move forward with the development of its pool club. Surfrider Foundation: Jersey Shore is is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the ocean, waves and beaches. We are committed to ensuring that this project is environmentally sound, NJDEP compliant, maintains public access and promotes social inclusivity.
