North Beach Winter Cleanup A Success!

On Saturday February 23rd, 80 volunteers of all ages braved the cold weather to clean the beach in Asbury Park. With the help of the Philly Surf Crew, we collected over 700 pounds of trash! Check out the data card below for more details.

Special thanks to the Philly Surf Crew for their partnership, Langosta Lounge for hosting our post-cleanup chapter meeting, Luigi's Pizza of Ocean for their generous food donation, and Porta Asbury Park for hosting our post-cleanup social gathering.

Of the 700 pounds of debris removed from the beach Saturday, over 4,000 objects were plastic, meaning 3 out of every 4 items picked up contained plastic. Last years February cleanup saw less than HALF the amount of plastics than this years. One year later, more than DOUBLE the plastics.

New Jersey has a huge opportunity to show its leadership in the fight against plastic pollution and you can help! CLICK HERE to send a message to your elected officials saying that you support banning plastic bags, straws, and foam in New Jersey.
