Our Rain Barrel Workshop program continues to be a success!

The Jersey Shore Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, once again partnering with the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Ocean County, has held another successful Build a Rain Barrel Workshop in Toms River. The event took place on the evening of May 3rd and participants helped build their own rain barrel and learned how to install it on their home.

A rain barrel is placed under a gutter's downspout next to a house to collect rainwater from the roof. The barrel holds about 50 gallons of water which can be used to water your yard and gardens. Rain barrels can help you save money on your water bill, prevent basement flooding, and reduce flooding in your local rivers and streams. The workshop was $45 for non-Surfrider members and $30 for current Surfrider members.

Keep a look out for our next rain barrel workshop that is planned to be held later in the summer!
