Come on out for Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 17th! This event is being held internationally and the Surfrider Jersey Shore Chapter will be hosting a cleanup in Asbury Park, NJ. Flier below.
Our focus this year is the impact of non-point source pollution which generally comes from runoff from the land and ends up in the ocean. Addressing the issue of litter and proper waste disposal is just as important inland as it is on the coast. Therefore, we will begin at the beach on 2nd Avenue and Boardwalk in front of Langosta Lounge (1000 Ocean Avenue) and then work our way up 2nd Avenue to Main Street cleaning the street.
At 1pm, after the big sweep, we will join the folks at Dark City Brewing (201 2nd Ave, Asbury Park, NJ), who have graciously offered to host us for some delicious locally-brewed beer and distribute wrist bands to all participants, which entitles them to special deals on flights of beer.
The cleanup portion of the event is open to everyone and we welcome all ages. The Surfrider Foundation will provide gloves and bags for those who need them.
