Hands Across the Sand 2016

We had a great time this past Saturday, May 21st, 2016 for the annual nationwide "Hands Across the Sand" event.  The Jersey Shore Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation and the Sierra Club teamed up for the second year to hold our own event in Bradley Beach, NJ.  There was a short rally with three speakers to get everyone pumped up! Then, at noon, we all took to the sand on our lovely beach to join hands in support of clean energy and to oppose seismic testing and off-shore drilling off our coasts. Hands Across the Sand is a great event for exposure to the issues facing our coastlines, especially those we cannot see from shore.

An overcast day did not hinder our supporters - there was a large crowd with an electrifying, uplifting energy wanting to protect our beaches and oceans for future generations. The gathering also received plenty of notice from passersby on the boardwalk, some of whom also joined in.

Thanks again to everyone who came out to the event and to all of our supporters! Big thanks to local artist, Peter Nicolaou, for helping put together our signs! See you at the same time next year!
